Well, it's time for a post!

  • May. 4th, 2009 at 10:18 PM

Hiya!  Been three months since the last post...Yep, means it's time for an update!  Wheeeee!
Um, let's see......  Sick!  Molly and I are drop dead sick!  Passing two solid weeks of NASTY flu.  Fever's in excess of 100-103 (still got em), cough, drainage etc...  We are listed as "probable" with the states Swine Flu department of health.  Pending CDC sending the results back.  But they (the State) are pretty damn sure we got it.
Yay!  I always said, if you're gonna do something don't go about it half-assed!  Go all out!  Gonna catch the flu?  Catch Swine Flu!  Do it right!
Let me tell you too, this f**ker S*U*C*K*S!  Very nasty, very painful.  It's as strong now as when we caught it two weeks ago.  Stand up, walk into kitchen for a drink and I get slammed with a fever.  It'll shoot up to 103 just walking 20 feet.  Been in this apartment for 14 days straight, doing nothing but fevering, coughing, hacking, diarhea-ing, and taking care of Molly.  Not fun and no end in sight.
Hell, this is my first time on the computer in 14 days, no oomph at all.  Just dragging ass everywhere.
More later, after this passes...

Happy post Valentines Day folks

  • Feb. 15th, 2009 at 4:22 PM

Well, hi.  Time for my obligatory trimonthly blog update, lol.

What's up with us?  Molly's got surgery in two weeks, so we're running around like idiots trying to do all the pre testing required (bloodwork, endocrine checks etc...).  All needs to be done and in doctor hands by the 25th.

Fun.

Then the surgery.  Her last one, a "day" surgery resulted in 4 days in the hospital and on O2....  Hopefully, we don't find yet another medication she's allergic too!

Then, we get her home and recovered, she gets to start up with a new OT!  Possibly a new PT.  She also gets a new (and hopefully) capable Respite provider.  Hope so.  Last one didn't work out so well!

Come March 19, Wedding Anniversary!  15 years.  Getting there!

Be well folks, be well!

Well, it's been a while since I last posted.  Waaaay too busy, caught up in the kinder's health issues.

So, Merry Xmas to all.  Esp my poor little girl.  Nuff said.

I hope and pray that all my friends have a safe and wondrous time!  Be well, and I'm sorry to be so out of touch, but needs must and all...

Ike's aftermath

  • Sep. 15th, 2008 at 9:37 PM

Well, I guess the Wolf and Pack have returned home to Houston.  Good, all seems to be okay.  No real damage to house/contents.  Just a mess (and the hit/miss power and water etc...).
Main thing is they are all okay.
Good!

Happy Sunday

  • Sep. 14th, 2008 at 2:51 PM

Hiya all!

Still here, still coping....  Just heard from Wolfie (left a note on my voicemail), the whole clan is okay and back home in Houston.  House is fine, trees/branches are down and the power is out (1-4 weeks too), but all are fine.  Cool!
Hurricanes suck!  Been stuck in several (Hawaii boy, with marine zoology degree too....  Very bad while at sea, rough on body).  Glad they came through fine.
As for the clan and I, we're doing alright.  Molly took a ten minute time out lastnight and turned it into a major time out, dumbass teenager.  Hormones, ugh...
Be well!

Wassup?

  • Sep. 10th, 2008 at 1:16 PM

How is you all?  Assuming that there is an "all"...  Heh.  The clan is better (in purely relative terms, which kinda makes sense as we are all related anyway...).

Well, the universe hasn't been forcible inverted by the LHC, so far...  No Higgs Boson "Looking Glasses" drifting across the Swiss landscape with Dreen infestations occuring.  So far.  Of course, as I seem to recall, the LHC will require several weeks to get "up to speed".  It's only a matter of time.

Doomed.  We're all DOOMED!  Mwahahahahahahahahaha!

Okay, deep breath.  Inhale, exhale.  Whoooooooooooie.  I'm okay.  Really.  Shut up Wolfie.

more later today perhaps.....

Hiya!

  • Sep. 3rd, 2008 at 1:22 PM

Well, it's been a while since my posting. A loooong while! Ooops! Dunno what's going on with lj anyway, just got a whole passel of people "befriending" me over the previous post. The timing is weird, that post is old, yet they just saw it... Odd. Eh, oh well. Ce la ve (sp?).

As I sit here petting my daughter (she's currently undergoing a full on GERD episode, just started so still good for 3 more days of vomiting every 45minutes), I decided to "update" the lj. Or at least post something...

Aside from the GERD, not much else going on right now with the clan other than the usual aches and pains (well.... maybe a little more ache-y and pain-y). Just watching the liberal left MSM in panic mode over McCain/Palin. Heh. I have issues with McCain's domestic policy intentions, but his foreign policy/intentions far outweigh those. Add in the outright fear (yes, fear) of what Obama would do to this country.... No, not because he's black, or (as the whack-o right wing-nuts claim) "Once a muslim, always a muslim", nope. Don't care if he is or ain't one. I fear his lack of ANY substance, his (and his wife's) hatred of whites and America in general. If he gets in, it's gonna be Big Brother and tax, tax, tax and more tax. Only gonna tax the "rich"(HIS definition of rich is screwed). To paraphrase Fred, it's still the same bucket of water!

Cannot wait for Gov Palin's speech tonight! Gonna be interesting.... Heh.

More later, Molly permiting...

Heh, I'm baaack!

  • Jun. 24th, 2008 at 12:00 AM

Title says it all...  Still here, still alive, just being stealthy/quiet.  Haven't felt like talking/typing much lately.  Buttload of "stuff" going on personally.  Still not gonna say much, mostly just a check of lj to see if I still exist.  Heh... I do.

More later, maybe.........

Wow! Two posts in ONE week!!!

  • Apr. 23rd, 2008 at 7:15 PM

Will miracles never cease????  Count 'em, two, TWO posts by me in a single week!  Damn!  Life, as we know it, is coming to an end.  LOL.

I have a repost of an email from a family friend (Jerry), 'bout a wedding reception...

It was a huge wedding with about 300 guests.
After the wedding, at the reception,
the groom got up on stage
with a microphone to talk to the crowd.
He said he wanted to thank
everyone for coming, many from
long distances, to support them
at their wedding.

 He especially wanted to thank
the bride's and his family and
to thank his new father-in-law for
providing such a lavish reception.
As a token of his deep appreciation
he said he wanted to give everyone
a special gift just from him.
So taped to the bottom of everyone's chair,
including the wedding party was an envelope.
He said this was his gift to everyone,
and asked them to open their envelope.
Inside each manila envelope was an 8x10 glossy
of his bride having sex with the best man.
The groom had gotten suspicious
of them weeks earlier and had
hired a private detective to tail
them.
After just standing there,
just watching the guests' reactions
for a couple of minutes, he
turned to the best man and
said, 'F---you!'
Then he turned to his bride and said,
F--- you!'
Then he turned to the dumbfounded
crowd and said, 'I'm outta here.'
 He had the marriage annulled
 first thing in the morning.
While most people would have
canceled the wedding immediately
after finding out about the affair, this
guy goes through with the charade,
 as if nothing were wrong.
His revenge--
making the bride's parents pay over $32,000 for a
300-guest wedding and reception, and best of all, trashing the bride's and best man's reputations
in front of 300 friends and family members.
This guy has balls the size of church bells.

Love it...  Not true tho, sigh....  Looked it up on Snopes , and it's false.  Too bad, it's a great story, still amusing tho (even if it's a bald faced LIE).  Go here, for direct link.  My friends version included pictures of a bride and groom.  Funny.

Oh well, more later.  No deep thoughts today, no pissing and/or moaning.

Still Alive (all rumours to the contrary...)

  • Apr. 21st, 2008 at 10:49 AM

Well, hell! Still here, still alive.... So, what's up with the Basset Clan? Eh, more of the same. We must live under a dark cloud (hell, inside a quantum storm!), what with all the bad luck we seem to be incurring. Either that or we've ALL been mass murderers in past lives! Karma is a bitch!

Hmmm... Dumping most (99%) of my dead trees (HardBacks), Molly will never be able to read em, Syl has different interests, I'm not long for the world now, no room for them in the palatial mansion, I might as well sell em or give em away to friends. I can read em in electronic form anyway, all on disc drive, cd-roms, sd cards (lots of backups), plus....got mIRC for e copies of already purchased books (technically its online piracy, but since I already own the dead trees, I don't care. Plus it's very hard for me to move around/walk right now. No trips to library/bookstore for a looooong time, back and knees won't let me). The e versions are easier to read, scalable fonts are great. Fit on bookshelves easier too.

'sides, maybe I can save up the many multiple tens of thousands of bucks required for back surgery faster....LOL!

Let's see here.... Molly cannot walk much at all now. MAJOR chore for me (back/knees) to get her into the bathroom for her ablutions nowadays. She doesn't smile much either nowadays ("Happy Puppet Syndrome" to the contrary. Too much pain). Still nada on the reason why she cannot walk. Sigh.

'bout the only good news is the wife. She's having a blast in her career. Good for her! Very proud of her, and happy. Too bad the pay sucks. Bennies are good tho...free movies, LOTS of free concerts/shows etc. Just a matter of the two gimps being able to handle the excursions (can you say vicodin + 800 mg ibuprofen + vodka = much less pain, piss blood tho!).

That's it for now I guess... Oh yeah, the crooks hit the property/area a third time. Everything is pretty much gone from our place (hell, the solar, 1600 gal water tank, battery bank, everything) and Roger's(doors kicked in, again, appliances, everything gone. Even stole his locking gate/cable!). And the mountain is on fire again. Hell of a lot closer too. Evac's in the neighborhood already. Sigh. Mass murderer's, 's all I can say. Or maybe we invented spamming (in a weird time warping way). Something really evil tho, has to be.

Pbttthhhhh!

  • Nov. 10th, 2007 at 10:20 PM

Pah!  STILL haven't heard from Molly's PRIMARY CARE Doctor....  All I can say is it's a damn good thing that George prescribed the antibiotic.  Which is KICKING the infections butt, as it is bacterial it's working very well.

Doctors....

  • Nov. 7th, 2007 at 9:20 PM

Huh!  Molly's doctor still hasn't called at all (such concern for a medically fragile child...).  However, MY former doctor (who knows Molly) called in a prescription for her today.  Thanks George!  You be a great guy!  Too bad I don't have any coverage anymore, I'd still be seeing you....  Well, I am still seeing you, just paying for it myself (thanks for the really, really cheap rates too!).
More later....

Guess this theme will do for now...

  • Nov. 6th, 2007 at 4:46 PM

Unless I'm willing to spring for an upgrade to a paid account.  I doubt it, VERY much.  Lessee, what's been going on....  Babydog has a nasty ear infection right now.  Yechhy discharge and all the pain etc... that goes along with said.  Don't want to take her in to the dr tho, that will trigger an all out GERD episode (2 or 3 days of throwing up every 45 minutes on top of an ear infection, not good...).  I did call her doctor about 5 hours ago re this very subject...  I have yet to hear from him.  Typical of him.  Why I'm switching plans next open enrollment (December).

Yechhh!

  • Nov. 4th, 2007 at 11:30 PM

And, I don't care much for this theme...  Going to have to find a better one, one more appropriate to me...  Sheesh, both entries still sound fairly negative.  LOL!  Oh well!  At least I haven't burst into profanity yet...  Yet.
Too tired to really do anything, say anything tonight.  Too bad, I really want to comment on a post/conversation a friend of mine was having on Baen's Bar re living within your means.  An excellent, well thought out conversation (by, for the most part, my friend Sarah).  Don't want to get into more yet, until I get her permission to add my 1/2 cent to the fray.

Okay all, I'm back...

  • Nov. 4th, 2007 at 10:42 PM

Hello everyone.  I'm back under new management so to speak...  Used to be john_the_basset, it's now fear_the_drool.  Dunno why, just because.  I figured I'd try again, but without all the negativity..  Yeah, right...
Anyway, about myself.  Old, sore, grouchy, married, handicapped daughter (just turned 13, wheelchair bound, Angelman's Syndrome).
Yeehaw!  Just the person you WANT to talk too!
